our disney tree 2014

November 19, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

It's no secret that we LOVE Disney!  We love the parks at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and we really love the Disney Cruise Line.  They are both such happy places for us.  We love the happy feeling that surrounds you and it's just such fun to be there.  Of course, I had to dedicate one of our Christmas trees to all things Disney.  We used some Disney ornaments but also some random trip stuff - luggage tags, Mickey ears, Magic Bands, etc.  We have enjoyed reliving wonderful trip memories while looking at our Disney Christmas tree this year.

365 project | jan 4, 2014

The 365 project is an idea that I love.  This project is all about recording those daily moments that might otherwise get forgotten.  I've attempted this several times in the past and had a tough time sticking to it.  Well, for 2014 I'm giving it another go.  Will I take a picture every day?  No.  In fact, I didn't snap the shutter once on January 1.  And that's ok.  It's all about capturing the moments, no stressing myself out.  So here are the first few pics of our crazy, beautiful 2014.

valentine's day mini sessions {birmingham, al photographer}

I'll be perfectly honest here, mini sessions aren't really my "thing."  I believe to truly capture a child's personality and a family's relationship you need at least an hour of time together.  The kiddos need to be playing and having fun, mom needs to be relaxed and dad just needs to know it's gonna be worth getting all dressed up for. ;)  But I love creating custom Valentine's Day cards for my kiddos to give to their friends and I wanted to offer this to my clients.  A full session isn't necessary to capture enough images for a card so we did mini sessions.  I had planned to have these outside but Mother Nature made other plans.  So I set this up in my studio super quick and was good to go.  Despite the last minute changes, I think we got some cute, fun images.  Thank you to everyone who came and I hope all of your Valentine recipients enjoyed their cards.  =)

the happiest place on earth {birmingham, al photographer}

Wow, what an awesome trip!!  We love visiting the Mouse {Mickey, of course!} and winter is our favorite time to go.  The weather is cooler {no humidity and a "cool" 75 degrees}, the crowds are much lower and the price is cheaper.  Yes, we're cheap.  ;)  My awesome best friend was nice enough to let us crash their trip and we had a great week.  Here are some of the many, many pictures we took.  Some of them were taken by me, some by my BFF and some by my husband.  But they were all taken with iPhones.  =)

So obviously it was a MAGICAL week with the Mouse.  There are a ton more pictures in this gallery if you want to see more.  Disney World is one of the most photographic places on Earth.  I could very easily spend a month there just taking photographs {and eating.}  I'm such a Disney nerd that all the details and stories behind those details are so interesting.  One day when I can go to Disney without kids, I'd love to take some of the tours that go behind the scenes.  How cool would it be to see behind the scenes at Magic Kingdom?  Awesome!  I was so excited to see the new Fantasyland and it did not disappoint.  Loved the Little Mermaid ride and Be Our Guest was beautiful!!  Disney World is the only place I would ever wait 45 minutes for "fast food."  And I'd do it again in a heartbeat just to see inside the restaurant.  =)  We had a great trip and can't wait to visit the Mouse again!  {And, yes, that is a hot dog with mac and cheese.  It was pretty yummy!}

This was such a fun session!  We met up in the studio for a bit and then went out to Morris Avenue once it warmed up.  It was still pretty chilly but we made the most of it.  This Mom is very blessed - three handsome men in her life.  I know just how she feels.  ;)
